Appliance estimate

Appliance energy cost calculator

Estimate how much one or several appliances use from their wattage, runtime, frequency, and your own price per kWh.

How appliance electricity cost is calculated

Energy per use = power in watts ÷ 1,000 × runtime in hours. Period cost = energy per use × number of appliances × uses per day × days × price per kWh.

1. Convert watts to kWh

The default 1,500 W appliance running for 3 hours uses 1,500 ÷ 1,000 × 3 = 4.5 kWh per use.

2. Scale by usage

At 1 appliance and 1 use per day for 30 days, 4.5 kWh × 1 × 1 × 30 = 135 kWh.

3. Multiply by your rate

At 0.25 EUR per kWh, 135 × 0.25 = 33.75 EUR for 30 days. The same usage is 1,642.5 kWh and 410.625 EUR over 365 days.

Use the right inputs

Use the rate from your own bill and the time the appliance actively draws power. Rated wattage can differ from actual use, especially for cycling devices; fixed charges, taxes, standby use and changing rates remain outside this estimate.

Currency is a display label; enter a rate in that currency per kWh.

This is a flat-rate estimate, not an electricity bill. It does not include tariff tiers, taxes, fixed charges, standby power, duty cycles, efficiency losses, or changing rates.
